Obituary of Harold LeRoy Ward

Harold LeRoy Ward, the son of Andrew and Bessie Balmer Ward, was born January 22, 1927, in Newton, Iowa. He was graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the Class of 1947. Harold was a lifelong resident of Newton. Harold served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He had worked as a fireman and Postal Letter Carrier. He retired on September 3, 1989. On July 23, 1961, Harold was united in marriage with Glennys Ann Turner in Newton, Iowa. Harold enjoyed bowling, Newton Football, and coin collecting. Harold was a member of Community Heights Alliance Church. Harold died at the age of 81 years on Thursday, September 4, 2008, in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dale Ward and Richard "Dick" Ward; and his sisters, Dorothy Harvey and Lucille Herbold. Those left to honor the memory of Harold include his wife, Glennys Ward of Lambs Grove, Iowa; his brothers, Dean and Betty Ward on Newton, Bill and Barbara Ward of Newton, Jerry and Micky Ward of Cleveland, Tennessee; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barb and Bob Gray of Newton, Del and Judy Turner of Newton and Susie and Adrian Nail of Des Moines and many nieces and nephews.
