Obituary of Mary Mae Wickliff

Mary Mae Wickliff, 98, the daughter of William Henry and Hila Ann (Stillings) Garrett, was born April 27, 1909 in Colfax, Iowa. She attended high school in the Colfax area.
On April 18, 1928, Mary was united in marriage with D.D. "Donald" Wickliff in Newton, Iowa. She had lived in Jasper County and Newton all her life and at her present home the past 66 years. She devoted her life to her husband and family. She enjoyed her family, crocheting, bingo, fishing, crosswords, mushroom hunting and all her friends. Mary was a member of the Newton V.F.W. Post #1655 Auxiliary and Jasper County Senior Citizens.
Mary died Monday afternoon, January 7, 2008 in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband D.D. Wickliff on July 15, 1988; a daughter-in-law Mary Lou Wickliff, granddaughter Sandra Lint; great-granddaughter Teila Wickliff; granddaughter-in-law Sue Wickliff; and six brothers and two sisters.
Memorials are designated to Hospice of Jasper County.
Those left to honor the memory of Mary include her sons: Don Dean Wickliff Jr., Harold Edward (Vada) Wickliff and William Marion Wickliff, all of Newton; David Paul (Cindy) Wickliff of Huntington Beach, CA; James LeRoy (Carol) Wickliff of Huntington Beach, CA; her daughters: Betty (Donny) Waddle of Monroe, IA, Mary Lou DeHaai of Monroe; Alice Jane (Bob) Mouchka of Newton, Judith Diane (Terry) Bradley of Newton, twenty-five grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; twenty-six great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great granddaughter; sister, Helen Vander Schel of Newton; sisters-in-law: Laura Garrett of Adair, Iowa and Mabel Garrett of Guthrie Center, Iowa and many special friends and neighbors.
